What is the meaning of BAPLIE?

BAPLIE stands for BAy PLan Including Empties

Your BAPLIE file is like a snapshot in time of the containers that are currently on the ship. The file is meant to let the next port know exactly what containers are on the ship and where they’re placed in relation to each other. This stowage plan includes information about positions which occupy full contianers as well as where empty container locations.

The BAPLIE file is a standardized message used in the shipping industry, based on the definitions and specifications determined by the SMDG.

The information included in the BAPLIE file includes the container number, its bay/row/tier location on board the ship, type of container, weight, and any hazardous information.  This information is useful for creating pre-plans of containers prior to their arrival, as well as discharge plans.

Instead of needing to know the complicated format of the file, let BAPLIE Viewer Online do the heavy lifting for you. We make it easy to provide BAPLIE files even if you're not an EDI expert!
