Can I convert a BAPLIE file to another version?

If you have a Platinum Membership (or a Free Trial Membership), you have the ability to use BAPLIE Viewer Online as a BAPLIE file converter.

*Please note that this feature is not available to those with a Silver or Gold Membership. For more information on membership tiers and costs, please visit the Membership FAQ page.

From any page on baplieviewer.com, click Management on the menu options to the left side of the screen and then select Download BAPLIE. When you click this option, you will be presented with several choices for converting the uploaded BAPLIE file.

Convert-Files---Download-Options.pngSelecting Current Version will leave all details as they are in the file (headers, LOC segments and MEA Weight segments will not be changed).

Selecting BAPLIE 2.2 VGM will convert the BAPLIE from whatever version was uploaded, into a BAPLIE 2.2 format, and will convert all MEA Weight Segments into VGM Weights.

Selecting BAPLIE 2.2 Non-VGM  will convert the BAPLIE from whatever version was uploaded, into a BAPLIE 2.2 format, and will convert all MEA Weight Segments into Non-VGM Weights (WT Qualifier).

Selecting BAPLIE 2.0 will convert the BAPLIE from whatever version was uploaded, into a BAPLIE 2.0 format, and will convert all MEA Weight Segments into Non-VGM Weights (WT qualifier).

Selecting BAPLIE 1.5 will convert the BAPLIE from whatever version was uploaded, into a BAPLIE 1.5 format, and will convert all MEA Weight Segments into VGM Weights.

Selecting Current Version without NAD segments will remove the name and address information of the line operator for the containers, and leave all other details as they are in the file.

Selecting Current Version without NAD segments from Full Containers will remove the name and address information of the line operator for full containers only, and leave all other details as they are in the file.

NOTE:  Converting a BAPLIE from one version to another is not as simple as changing the Message Header (UNH) segment. Each version of BAPLIE has a slightly different specification. For example the LOC segment codes in BAPLIE 1.5 do not exist in BAPLIE 2+ and vice versa. BAPLIE Viewer Online converts all segments into the correct format as per the SMDG specification for the version selected.
